The illumination refers to the type of lighting both structurally and the range of time when the frame is illuminated. Illumination encompasses both sunlight and artificial lighting. The illumination start and end time indicate the hour/minutes/seconds when a frame is illuminated. While the illumination type name indicates if it is naturally, artificially, or artificially both illuminated.

There are multiple ways a frame can be illuminated. If a frame is non-digital and has light features as illustrated in the first example below then this location has both artificial and natural lighting. The media operator will then need to indicate the hours of illumination which will include a start time and an end time. As well as the illumination type which in this case would be front-litfrontlit.
